I'm back and keen to kick of 2018 in winning style with one bet at Lingfield, may add a Welsh national selection in the morning.

There was a couple I fancied in here but Milansbar looks the best value in the market this morning, especially as Betfair are best odds and paying 5 places. Milansbar seems to have bounced back to form this season after a disappointing end to his last campaign. He made a respectable return to the track in November at Catterick and improved for that run significantly when a close third at this track on his next start. He was slightly hampered in the closing stages of that race but stayed on nicely at the end suggesting this marathon trip today will be just what he wants and he gets first time cheekpieces for the occasion. The ground was heavy that day so his ability to handle the desperate ground today should not be a problem. Wild West Wind finished ahead of him that day but carries a penalty for that and his stamina is not assured, while Alfie Spinner also finished ahead of the selection the last day but the way Milansbar stayed on at the end suggests he may be capable of turning that form round over this sort of distance. Bishops Road and Final Nudge also made the shortlist but at the prices Milansbar is the one I'll be backing.

Nurse Nightingale looks on a handy mark in this fillies handicap and could take some stopping. She was a tad disappointing last time out when a beaten favourite, but she didn't settle well in that race so the drop back to 1m2f and the change of headgear from a hood to cheekpieces could see her finishing with more a flourish here. The maiden Nurse Nightingale finished second in before that disappointment has worked out well since, the third and fourth have both won since and the fifth placed horse (who Nurse Nightingale finished 10 1/2 lengths ahead of) was beaten just a neck on his next start.
