15:00 Sandown - DASHING PERK 11/1

1 Point Each-Way (Back at a firm paying 5 Places)

This is a competitive contest with a mixture of top handicap form with some old favourites such as Buywise, but it is an unexposed type down near the bottom of the weights who catches my eye. Dashing Perk comes here off the back of a demolition job at Wincanton and, although it is difficult to weigh up the quality of the form, it was the manner of the victory which was most impressive. He is clearly highly thought of by his shrewd trainer, Dr Richard Newland, as he has an entry for the Albert Bartlett, a grade one at the Cheltenham festival. Racing Post Ratings also suggest this son of Kayf Tara has a better chance than odds of 11/1 suggest.

17:45 Kempton - DIVINE CALL 13/2

1 Point Win

I fancy the old boy Divine Call to land this on his second start for Charlie Wallis. He races off a basement rating of just 45 after running well in another class 7 event here at Kempton over 6f. Despite being tight for space and having to weave his way through the field, he ran on well in the closing stages where not many got involved in a race run to suit those racing prominently. This looks like it could be run to suit and with a bit more luck in running he could have a good chance.
